About
Welcome to El Laurel Cafè & Taberna, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Granada, specifically on the vibrant Pl. de Bib-Rambla. This establishment invites guests to embark on a flavorful journey through the rich tapestry of Spanish cuisine, where quality ingredients meet traditional preparation methods.
With an enthusiastic commitment to freshness, El Laurel has earned rave reviews from locals and travelers alike. As Joy E. Glenn enthusiastically noted, the meals are incredible, with highlights such as the delightful tosta Requeté stealing the show. Each dish is crafted with care, embodying the essence of Granada's culinary heritage while providing a delicious dining experience.
While meals vary widely in flavor profile, customers like Jackson Hong have pointed out that even amidst a bustling lunch crowd, the service remains commendable. And who doesn’t love a pleasant surprise? Jackson noted the complimentary tapas that accompanied their sparkling water, enhancing the dining experience beyond expectations.
Yet, not all dishes have been universally praised. Reviewers like Zsigmond Bathori shared mixed feelings about certain offerings, particularly the Rabo de Torro paired with French fries, suggesting a potential area for improvement in options. However, the ambiance—dining under welcoming shade on warm days—adds significant value to the experience.
For those who appreciate a solid meal at a reasonable price, El Laurel shines with favorites like the fried fish platter and swordfish, as highlighted by Matei Catalan. It’s evident that the café aims to balance flavor and affordability, ensuring each guest leaves satisfied.
Though navigating the menu may present a challenge, as David Henderson discovered, the unique flavors—like the Plato Alpujarenno, with its mélange of loin, chorizo, and fried egg—afford an engaging experience. And isn't that what dining is all about? Exploring new tastes and savoring the nuances of various dishes.
In summary, El Laurel Cafè & Taberna promises a warm and inviting atmosphere, where fresh ingredients and traditional Spanish dishes create a memorable dining experience. Whether you are a first-time visitor to Granada or a returning patron, this is one café you won’t want to miss on your culinary adventures.

“ The food was incredible! All of the ingredients are fresh. I ordered the tosta Requeté and it was so delicious! However, I did not particularly like the fried squid. Considering that we ate here during the busiest time of the day; I would say that the service was good as well. Would I eat here again when we visit Granada??? ABSOLUTELY! ”
“ We had lunch here and found the food to be decent. The service was good and we had free tapas because of the sparking water we ordered, which was surprising because we thought we only get free tapas with alcoholic beverage. The potato croquettes were too salty to our taste but that seemed to be the general theme of Spanish food. Overall I think this was a good experience and a place to try if you happen to be in the area. ”
“ I enjoyed my Rabo de Torro! But being served with french fries is a bit on the downside. Two more people with me ordered 2 different dishes, but all their food came with french fries. We never had the option to choose anything else instead of french fries. So... Other than that you can enjoy your meal under a shade, what is welcomed on a hot summer day! ”
“ Very nice food and decent prices! We recommend the fried fish platter and the swordfish - both were delicious! ”
“ It was unique and ok. I had a hard time figuring out the menu but did as best we could. I chose the Plato Alpujarenno. It says that it's loin, chorizo, black pudding, fried egg, green pepper and potatoes. It was basically a fried egg with fries, black sausage, a boiled green pepper cut and draped over a piece of chicken breast and some very thinly sliced deli pork. I enjoyed it but the kids were confused on what to order to and got pizzas. Wasn't much to the service in here. They brought us our food. Bathrooms weren't great. ”
